Scope: Concentrate feed building and system

Polaris was engaged to complete the supply, erection, and installation of the Lynas Rare Earths Concentrate Building at its Cracking & Leaching facilities in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA, comprising:

  • Electrical equipment and instrumentation installation
  • Delivery-to-site of all materials required for works
  • Supply and erection of all temporary works, scaffolding, and work platforms required for the execution of the works
  • Testing and commissioning of all works under the contract following ‘Commissioning of Electrical Systems’ specifications
  • Supply of manufacturer’s data report (MDR)
  • Supply of installation, operating, and maintenance manuals for all operating equipment supplied

The Kalgoorlie Rare Earths Processing Facility will process mixed rare earth concentrate from the Mt. Weld mine to produce a mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) feedstock to produce ND PR finished product. The expansion will see nameplate production capacity increased to approx. 9,000 tpa, up from the original design of approx. 7,000 tpa.

Scope: Steel and rubber-lined tanks and vessels

The Tanks Package is a design and construct (D&C) scope of work involving the design, fabrication, supply, delivery, and installation of steel tanks, lined steel tanks, and vessels, specifically 54 carbon steel and stainless-steel tanks, including tank farm structures and access platforms. Work Included:

  • Detailing of tanks and associated steelwork
  • Supply of all tank components
  • Shop and on-site fabrication of the tanks
  • Leak testing
  • Passivation of stainless-steel tanks
  • Surface protection works, including rubber lining

The tanks will form part of a complex, state-of-the-art rare earths processing facility.

Milestones

  • Successful on-time delivery and final assembly of 54 carbon steel and stainless-steel tanks, accommodating numerous design amendments while maintaining delivery schedule
  • Detailing of tanks and associated steelwork
